City of Bowling Green
The following is an excerpt from the intro of the Fiscal Year 2025 City of Bowling Green Public Works Annual Report written by from Andy Souza, Public Works Director.
Maintaining a city requires a dedicated team of professionals. In Bowling Green, we are fortunate to have an exceptional workforce across all departments, united in their commitment to enhancing our community for living, working, and recreation.
Behind the scenes, our Public Works professionals diligently and quietly uphold the integrity of our city. These silent guardians ensure our streets are safe, properly marked, and well-maintained, while also monitoring weather conditions to manage stormwater, mitigate snow, and clear leaves from our drains. Our team is responsible for maintaining all city vehicles, ensuring our partners at the Bowling Green Police and Fire Departments, as well as Parks and Recreation, Code Compliance, and Animal Control, have safe and reliable equipment.
Our dedicated Facilities team oversees more than 18 buildings, including fire stations, the Convention Center, and the historic Hobson House. Meanwhile, our planners are focused on future developments, making certain that growth is thoughtfully integrated into street designs.
Our entire team stands ready 24/7, committed to making Bowling Green the best city possible—one that we aspire for our children to inherit. I take great pride in our team and hope you share my enthusiasm for the positive impact they make every day.
