1.)  Since 2019, more vehicles have traveled on U.S. roads each year.   

FALSE – More Americans are traveling again! From September 2023 to August 2024, vehicle travel on U.S. roads reached 3.3 trillion miles, a level that hasn’t been reached since 2019.

 

 

2.)  Over the past 50 years the percentage of licensed teenager drivers has steadily decreased. 

TRUE – Did you know the number of teen drivers has steadily decreased since 1973? In 2022, just 4% of licensed drivers were teenagers.

 

 

3.)  Roundabouts can reduce injury and fatal crashes. 

TRUE – Roundabouts save lives.  Did you know a single lane roundabout reduces the number of vehicle conflict points from 32 to 8 and pedestrian conflict points from 24 to 8 versus traditional intersections?

 

 

4.)  72% of all pedestrian deaths occur between 6 AM to 6 PM. 

FALSE – Stay alert at night! 72% of all pedestrian deaths occur after dark … and evenings from October to December have the highest number of pedestrian deaths out of the year.

 

 

5.)  Last year, drivers used 2x as many gallons of gasoline as diesel and alternative motor fuels.
